Global Summit on the Social Determinants of Health
The World Health Organisation convened the World Conference on the Social Determinants of Health, from 19th-21st October, in Rio de Janeiro.
The Conference helped build support for national policies to address social determinants of health, and resulted in the Rio Political Declaration on Social Determinants of Health.
The Institute of Health Equity team and Michael Marmot participated in the event, including presenting and writing an article for the Lancet, 'Building of the Global Movement for Health Equity: From Santiago to Rio and Beyond'.
Michael Marmot also wrote two blogs about the conference.
A conference run by HAPI in November will help develop the post-Rio agenda.
