We are pleased to announce that Professor Marmot is the 2010-11 President of the British Medical Association (BMA). In this role he will continue to champion tackling health inequalities through the social determinants with particular emphasis on developing the role of  the workforce in reducing health inequalities.

The British Medical Journal (BMJ) have published an article on Professor Marmot's appointment, 'Michael Marmot: Putting health inequality on the map'. In this article, Michael discusses how he sees his appointment as the next president of the BMA as another way of promoting action on the social determinants of health.
