Commenting on the Coalition Government's plans to increase the retirement age to 66, Professor Sir Michael Marmot, said:
"Unless effective action is taken to weaken the link between wealth and health, which means the poorer you are the worse your health, then half the population will be too ill to work at 66. These health inequalities affect everyone except the most wealthy."
