The IHE has been working with the firm Legal & General since 2021. L&G has now announced a £3m "health equity" fund - with the first £1m going to the North East. The idea is the funding will support initiatives which "directly address the conditions in which people are born, grow, live and age".

The hope is to fund the voluntary and community sectors as part of L&G's drive to "be a force for good in society". Grant funding of up to £75,000 available to projects working to reduce health inequality.
