Health Equity Network (HEN) Conference 2025 Institute of Health Equity

2025 HEN Conference, Liverpool

This week sees the IHEs Health Equity Network (HEN) third annual conference, which this year takes place in Liverpool on Thursday 9 October.

With a theme around child poverty and action in the now nearly 60 Marmot Places, delegates will hear from speakers including Steve Rotherham, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, Louise Gittins, Chair of the Local Government Association, Lord John Bird, founder of the Big Issue magazine and Professor Sir Michael Marmot.

The day-long event includes two rounds of workshops around ‘great problems and great ideas’, run by HEN members and ‘next steps’ in creating renewed momentum around the social movement for health equity.

As the conference is being held in Liverpool, Professor Matt Ashton will explain how Liverpool as a Marmot Place and the regional the CHAMPS public health collaborative – is promoting health equity.

The event is sold out but, like last year, we will provide a conference report, which will include Mancunian poet Ella Otomewo’s reflection on the day.
