The Institute of Health Equity (IHE) developed an approach to interventions to improve public health through the social determinants of health (SDH). It was envisaged that the approach and the tools developed would aid Health and Wellbeing Boards (HWBs), their partners and service providers, to identify, develop and enable the commissioning of health interventions which address the SDH and health inequalities.

A stakeholders’ workshop ran on Tuesday 6th March 2012 with around 40 delegates from local authorities, health authorities, central government, and the public health training scheme. A summary of the workshop is available.

The online consultation ran from Friday 27th April to Friday 25th May and received 26 responses from local authorities, health authorities, academics and charities. Summaries of the consultation responses and the documents for consultation are available.
