Summary

This report is the first in a series produced by the UCL Institute of Health Equity in collaboration with the Institute of Health Equity at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).

The report is an overview, informed by relevant data and research, of inequalities in health and the social determinants of health in Hong Kong. While the people of Hong Kong enjoy the longest life expectancy in the world, and generally good health, they also experience profound inequalities: in income, education, employment, housing, and elsewhere. This report also discusses the impact of COVID-19 and measures to control the pandemic on inequalities in health.
