The Institute of Health Equity recognises the paramount importance of collaboration with the voluntary and community sector in tackling health inequalities and striving towards health equity. The impact of our work can be greatly amplified when combined with the grassroots knowledge and community-centered approaches championed by the voluntary and community sector.
The IHE believes meaningful collaboration between the local systems and the voluntary and community sector is not just beneficial, but imperative for achieving health equity. Together, these partnerships are better place to address the root causes of health inequalities and tackle the social determinants of health.
IHE started working with Barnardos in 2022, a children's charity in the UK, bridging the gap between research and implementation. This collaboration is an example of partnerships fostering a deeper understanding of the social determinants of health and empowering communities.
